The journal of Diabetes and Endocrine Practice (JDEP) has been established under the auspices of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, Gulf Chapter (AACE GC) to be an international journal with regional flavor. While there are several journals in the region with broad scopes, JDEP is a subspecialized journal focusing on metabolic and endocrine disorders in the region and worldwide. It has been established to be the official forum for communicating original research, local data, review articles, interesting case reports, teaching images, sounding boards and matters of great importance to the medical field. We hope it will be the voice of endocrinologists and diabetologists in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and a medium for endocrinologists and dialectologists around the world. Like many good journals, JDEP is committed to publish research of high quality and rigorous acumen. More importantly, JDEP places ethical issues in research at the forefront of its charge. Science can only be of impact when ethics are rooted in it and JDEP is committed to that principle. Fairness is part of the ethics in science and we are committed to exercise fairness at all stages of medical publishing taking in consideration the time and efforts of our authors and reviewers and in respect and commitment to our readership. AACE GC was established in 2012. It has made great strides in achieving its mission of being a voice of endocrinologists in the region and a forum for learning and education. Establishing a subspecialty journal is just one of the testaments to its commitment to this noble mission. I am honored and privileged to be tasked with the position of the Editor-in-Chief of this young product, JDEP. With your support and consideration and with the support of our distinguished editorial board and reviewers, we are all committed to succeed in our aspiration for having a journal with great impact on the fields of endocrinology and metabolism in our region. We sincerely encourage you to consider JDEP for your future submissions and we promise to treat these submissions expeditiously, fairly and positively. Last but not least, I want to thank the board members of the AACE GC for their support and engagement in this exciting endeavor. I hope all of you will consider JDEP to share your research and views in the fields of endocrinology and metabolism.

I look forward to receiving your submissions and to entertaining any suggestion/comment that would improve JDEP.
